The WOWSound decoders firmware or sound files can be updated by updating the SD card.
First install the update program if you haven't already
Then download the latest version of the firmware or http://tcsdcc.com/v5dieselbetatest sound set] and store it onto your computer (Remember where you save it to!)

Steps to update the decoder files

  1. Remove the micro SD card from the decoder and plug it into a computer, a micro SD to SD card adapter may be needed. They can be purchased inexpensively online or at a local department store
  2. Open the "WOW_Updater.exe" program
  3. Select the latest firmware image (.patch file) or new sound set (.sound?), then hit "submit"
  4. Select the drive that the SD card was plugged into. If you are not sure what drive its plugged into go to "my computer" and view the available drives. If you try to open the SD card from the computer your PC will give you an error saying "the card must be formatted" DO NOT FORMAT the SD card as that will erase all data on it.
  5. Click on "Write to SD Card" and wait to remove the SD card until the the program notifies you that the write process is complete
  6. Insert the SD card back into the decoder

If you are just updating the sound set your are done, if updating the firmware a few more steps are needed

  1. Power up the locomotive and leave it sitting still, if the power is interrupted to the decoder during the update process that will corrupt the decoders memory
  2. Enter Audio Assist™ mode
  3. Go to menu 4, then menu 6, then press function 1 to start the update process
  4. During the update process the decoder light outputs will flash rapidly, when the update is complete the decoder will reset and start up running the new firmware
