Instructions for Updating

One method to update firmware on the B-106 is by using JMRI and a LCC USB device.

Visit our Firmware page to find and download the latest firmware file.

To update your B-106, follow these steps:

  1. Connect the LCC USB device to the B-106 using any available LCC port.
  2. Connect the LCC USB device to your PC
  3. Open JMRI Panel Pro. (If you have not created a profile, you must do so. See the instructions in the B-106 Quick Start Guide on how to do so.)
  4. On the Panel Pro main window, select "LCC" (or "OpenLCB") from the menu, then select Firmware Update.
  5. in the Firmware Update window, browse for the firmware file, select the correct device (Node ID), then click the Load button.

This process is slow, and can take a minute or more to complete. Once the update is complete, the B-106 will reboot.

If you are having trouble connecting the B-106 to JMRI through the LCC Buffer USB, ensure a terminator is plugged into the LCC Buffer USB.

This method also requires manual downloading of Firmware Files for your device. Additionally, you may require add-on hardware if your PC does not have a network connection/WiFi. Full Instructions with pictures on how to update your B-106 through JMRI using WiFi can be found on the TCS Website.
