Overview

PIKO's new battery R/C sound-equipped GE 25-Ton locomotive uses original design documentation and authentic sound files recorded from the prototype. This model includes a custom TCS WOWSound® decoder with factory-preset configuration which includes sounds for horn, bell, prime mover, brake release, and brake application.

Loaded with prototypical features, the GE 25-Ton locomotive from PIKO brings all the sights and sounds of GE's iconic rumble to your layout.

R/C operation

The power switch for the locomotive is located under the left side of the cab floor. When turned on, the locomotive will ignite the prime mover and the lights will come on. Pressing the "up" or "down" arrows on the remote will cause the locomotive to move in the requested direction. Further presses, or holding the button will cause a more rapid speed change. The "I" will toggle the bell on or off. The "II" button activates the playable horn. Pressing both directional arrows at once will activate the emergency stop.

Continuous Throttle Mode

Just like the prototype, the PIKO GE 25-Ton Diesel - G features a new "continuous" throttle mode which allows for infinite variable prime mover RPMs rather than the eight limited notches found in other diesel locomotives. Listen for the continuous throttle response as you operate your GE 25-Ton!

Pushbutton Volume Stepper

The PIKO GE 25-Ton Diesel - G also features a newly designed pushbutton "stepper" volume control. Each press of this button, which is located on the cab ceiling, increases the volume by 25 percent. Once the volume reaches 100 percent, the next press will mute the decoder before cycling back to 25 percent volume.

Troubleshooting

If you are experiencing issues with your PIKO GE 25-Ton Diesel - G, the following troubleshooting tips may help. If not, PIKO technical support can be contacted with the information below.

If the locomotive is unresponsive and the cab light is off:

• Make sure the 'AAA' batteries are fully charged
• Check that the power switch is flipped in the "on" position. Be aware that the power switch has two "off" positions and only one "on" position.

If the radio control is acting erratic or the playable horn is no longer playable:

• Replace the CR2025 battery in the pocket remote.
• The CR2025 battery in the pocket remote is low if the the red light blinks instead of staying on solid when a button is held.
• Make sure the 'AAA' batteries are fully charged. We have found that using 1100mAh NiMH rechargeable batteries gives superior performance compared with standard alkaline batteries.

Cab light is on but the locomotive does not make sound:

• After several minutes of inactivity, the locomotive will play the shutdown sequence and turn the sound off. Any input, including horn, bell, direction, or volume will wake the locomotive.
• Make sure the decoder is "unmuted" using the volume stepper button inside the cab
