NMRA CV 61 - Configuration Data (Part 2)

CV61 controls various settings in the decoder such as Rule17 effects, BEMF, braking, and more. In WOWSound decoders this CV more limited than in mobile decoders. This is because on WOWSound decoders, BEMF cannot be disabled or manually controlled. We do not allow you to disable BEMF on a WOWSound decoder because it must be used in order to use the load-sensing Prototype Throttle Mode.

CV61 is a "bitwise" CV, meaning each bit corresponds to an individual feature, rather than a neumerical value making a change to a single setting. To program this CV, take the values in the values column corresponding to the features you want active and add them together. Program the sum value into CV61. See the table below for available options:

This setting can be used to disable BEMF. If BEMF is disabled, Dither will be enabled and is configurable with CV 56 and CV 57

NOTE: This setting cannot be disabled on WOWSound decoders.

This setting can be used with the BEMF Control Button to run the motor for a set duration/speed when the button is pressed.

NOTE: This setting cannot be enabled on WOWSound decoders because BEMF cannot be manually controlled or disabled.

3 Enable Braking For non-sound decoders, if this setting is enabled, the decoder can be brought to a stop using the Brake Button.

For WOWSound decoders, this setting will enable or disable the Train Brake feature. (WOWSound default is enabled)

4 Dim Headlights

When Stopped

Part of Rule 17. If this setting is enabled, all Rule 17 Dimmable lights will dim when the locomotive is stopped. OFF 16
5 Dim Opposite

Headlight

Part of Rule 17. If this setting is enabled, all Rule 17 Dimmable lights in the opposite direction of travel will dim automatically. OFF 32
6 Manual Button

Control for Motor

This setting can be used with the Motor Control Button to operate the motor when the button is pressed.

This setting can be used in combination with Bit 1 of this CV to advance a turntable for example.

7 Dim Brake Lights This setting configures Brake Lights Lighting Effect. If this setting is enabled, the Brake Lights will be dim when the

Brake Button is off. (Enabled with the Trolley Preset) If this setting is disabled, the Brake Lights will go off completely.
